Stayed here on a rainy night after a show at the Columbia Theater. Clean, comfortable, delicious breakfast & a gracious, friendly, interesting hostess!!
I had a wonderful weekend getaway at Hughes House. One of the best B & B's I've ever stayed at and I've tried many all over the country. Miss Lee was very helpful & accomodating without being intrusive. I really enjoyed sipping a wine on the shady front porch & the swimming pool looked great - I'll have to come back in the summer months.

My room was big & comfortable like the 4 poster bed. Breakfast was fantastic & included in the room rate. FYI - the rates are very reasonable!
The Hughes house is very warm and inviting and so is the woman who runs it, Lee Collins. The house is full of history, from the handcrafted furniture her son and husband made, to the antiques from Louisiana and around the world, that adorn the walls, hallways and rooms. The bedroom we stayed in was comfortable, quite and spacious. I felt right at home! I loved being able to sit outside on the big wrap around porch, I sipped on grapefruit juice and my husband wine. Breakfast in the morning was cooked with the same kind of care and thoughtfulness your mother would have prepared for you when visiting. It was very relaxing and delicious. The house is in walking distance to downtown Hammond, a quaint town with some nice selections of shops and restaurants. We look forward to going back
My husband and I had a lovely time. The owner, Lee, was very sweet, helpful, and one heck of a cook! Her full southern style breakfasts were to die for! We had some lovely conversations, however she is not intrusive. We had a wonderfully private, romantic, and fun weekend. House was built in 1901, it is an interesting home to explore, rooms are spacious, and clean. We would love to visit again.
I'd definitely recommend this place to stay.
